THE USE OF Q-BIO

Q-BIO is a tanning process that results in leather free of heavy metals, with a formaldehyde level
that is negligible, below the limits currently required by laws and the market.

The “Cosmo-White” tanned leathers are biodegradable and therefore ECO-SUSTAINABLE,
while maintaining the quality, feel, and performance of leathers processed with traditional products.

The use of Q-BIO supports the natural biodegradation process at the end of the product’s life
cycle. Q-BIO leathers are biodegradable over 90% and do not release phytotoxic or chemotoxic
substances, in compliance with the eco-toxicological criteria established by the Reach regulation
for health and environmental protection.

A BIO leather is a leather free from metals.

Tests conducted on Q-BIO leather have shown a chromium content below 100 ppm and
formaldehyde levels close to zero.

BIO products have greater tear resistance compared to leathers tanned with traditional methods,
offering cutting-edge technical performance and excellent versatility in processing.

Biodegradability refers to the ability of organic substances and materials to be broken down into
simpler substances through the enzymatic activity of microorganisms.

When this biological process is complete, the organic substances are fully converted into simple
inorganic molecules such as water, carbon dioxide, and methane. The biodegradation process is
part of the natural life cycle on Earth, centered around carbon.

Our effort has focused on attempting to replicate and enhance this natural process even in leather
products at the end of their use period, as well as ensuring a product that, throughout its
commercial life, represents a perfect balance between technical performance and complete
human tolerance.
